“Right America: Feeling Wronged” Part 2

This past Monday I watched the documentary “Right America: Feeling Wronged – Some Voices From the Campaign Trail” on HBO. I posted about it last week but hadn’t seen it yet. I had joined in on some of the comments that were posted on a YouTube video about it but really did want to reserve my feelings until after I watched it. Now that I’ve seen it, I’m still trying to figure out how I feel.

On Monday, February 16, 2009 – HBO is airing a new documentary by Producer/Director Alexandra Pelosi ["The Trials of Ted Haggard" (2009), "Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi" (2007), "Diary of a Political Tourist" (2004), and "Journeys with George" (2002)], titled “Right America: Feeling Wronged”.

It is Real?

I woke up this morning with this fear of turning on the news. Even though I was up till well past 2:00 AM watching the news, I feared that somehow it wasn’t real. To my joy and relief, it is. President Elect Barack Obama. What a wonderful sound.

Though I want to write more, I’m exhausted. It feels so weird to not be going out campaigning today. I think instead I’ll rest and see what else is happening in the world .

I am too overcome with emotion to write much. It is now a little after 11 and MSNBC just declared that Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States!

America did it! America actually did it!

Pennsylvania was just announced for Obama!!! I have hope for the night. For the first time since this election began, I have hope!

Election Day!

This is it! Today is election day. The day when everyone will have an opportunity to voice their opinion and stake a claim in what happens over the next four years. I have been hearing that voter turnout is expected to be 64%. 64%! That is said like it is a good thing. The fact that 36% of American’s who are eligible to vote will not take part in the process today upsets me beyond words.

Election Day Is Almost Here

Election day is now only 4 days away!!! Four days until this country decides on a new President.

As I go out campaigning, talking to people door-to-door, I admit that I am dumbfounded by those who still declare themselves undecided. It is four days until the election. The campaign’s been going on for nearly two years now. What more do some of these people need before they make up their minds?

Countdown

Election Day is one day closer. I expect that I won’t sleep from now until after the results are in. I want to believe the polls but I can’t. I want to believe that this country will go out and vote for the person they think will best serve our country – but I worry that too many will let race get in the way.

For all of you who really do want change, go out and help with the campaign. It isn’t too late. There are still phone calls to make; doors to knock on; data to be entered into a computer. You can help make a difference.

I just finished watching Barack Obama’s half-hour commercial. I know that when I go out campaigning tomorrow I will encounter some McPalin supporter’s who will have comments about it. All I can say is that I was moved to tears.
